Halloween Horror Nights Returns for its 34th Year of Fear

Updated August 1, 2025

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) has haunted parkgoers at Universal Orlando Resort for over three decades.

The award-winning event will return to Universal Studios Florida for select nights between Friday, August 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The separately ticketed event — prices starting at $82.99 — is recommended for gutsy guests ages 13 and older.

Feeling fearless? Here’s what you’ll find lurking in the dark at Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2025.

Key Takeaways

Hair-raising Haunted Houses at Halloween Horror Nights

HHN is famous (or rather, infamous) for its themed haunted houses.

Once you enter one, your only way out is through a macabre, monster-filled maze. You never know when a scare actor will jump out and give you the fright of your life.

Many of the houses draw inspiration from popular horror franchises, while others are Universal’s own creepy creations.

In 2025, there will be 10 haunted houses at Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Orlando is slowly announcing their new themes, building a fearful sense of anticipation.

Here are the haunted houses you have to look forward to in 2025:

  • Based on the hit show and game franchise, the Fallout haunted house transports brave guests to post-apocalyptic L.A. You’ll face raiders and bounty hunters in an eerie wasteland.
  • The second haunted house announced is Jason Un1v3erse, where you’ll step into the summer camp where the iconic horror villain’s gruesome story began. Nothing can save you as you come face to face with Jason Voorhees himself.
  • Take on the sadistic Art the Clown in his twisted fun house as you creep your way through the Terrifier house. This gruesome and gory insight to a twisted mind is sure to leave you truly terrified.
  • You’ll be hunted by deadly animatronics as you flee through the Five Nights at Freddy’s haunted house. Abandoned hallways, ghostly machines, and uneasy nostalgia await.
  • In WWE Presents: The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks, you’ll meet your match against maniacal minds. This eerie arena has you going head to head with your fears, and a slew of horrifying characters.
  • El Artista: A Spanish Haunting follows the haunting journey of a tortured artist in an isolated country manor with ghostly hallways and haunted corridors. Can you find your way out as his art comes to life and possesses him?
  • As you wander through Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters, you’ll find yourself in an Old West town possessed by red-hot lava demons crawling out of a portal from hell.
  • Dolls: Let’s Play Dead embraces the creepy essence of lifelike toys as you become doll-sized and enter the world of a twisted little girl. Stalked by her frightening creations, you’ll end up in a Victorian doll house possessed by undead horrors.
  • You’re the guest of honor at your own funeral in Grave of Flesh, where you’ll pass through the Underworld amidst flesh-eaters who feed on the dead. Will you escape or forever be mercilessly hunted underground?
  • Gálkn: Monsters of the North is an icy horror story that takes place in a remote northern village that’s been possessed by a wicked being and hoards of monsters and demons from the fjords.

We’ll keep you updated as more of the 2025 HHN haunted houses are announced leading up to the event’s start date.

Lines for the haunted houses can be scarily long. If you’re dead set on doing all 10 houses in a night, strongly consider buying a Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass. This upgrade fast-tracks you to the front of each of the house’s line.

Scream-inducing Scare Zones

Two women and a man scream and cling to each other on a dark street as a figure approaches from the shadows.

Think you’re safe outside of the haunted houses? Think again.

In 2025, Halloween Horror Nights will feature four brand new scare zones.

The Origins of Horror is a “decaying conservatory of twisted vines” that is home to haunting carved tributes to this year’s HHN.

Masquerade: Dance with Death invites you to an eerie ball where bloodthirsty vampires are watching you from beneath masked disguises.

The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane transforms unsuspecting trick-or-treaters wandering down a spooky path into feral felines.

Mutations: Toxic Twenties sends guests time traveling back to the 1920s, where a BuzzCon truck with radioactive cargo crashes into a mobster getaway car.

Watch your back when passing through these outdoor areas. Ghastly creatures are everywhere, waiting for unwitting park guests to cross their paths.

Eerie Entertainment & Eats

A spooky angel-like zombie glows in purple light against a dark and spooky backdrop.

When exploring Halloween Horror Nights, it’s easy to feel like you’re the star of your own horror movie.

Take a moment to breathe at one of HHN’s live shows.

This year, catch a performance of Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay, a jam-packed performance with nightmarish stunts, illusions, and pyrotechnics.

Lingering at the Universal Studios lagoon is Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey, a ghost story rising from a watery grave with towering water screens and haunting music.

A selection of Universal Studios rides will stay open during Halloween Horror Nights.

Trade your chills for thrills while you board rides like Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Men in Black: Alien Attack, and Revenge of the Mummy.

Lines for these attractions tend to be shorter during Halloween Horror Nights. But if you spring for a Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass, it’ll get you right on these rides, too.

You’re likely to work up an appetite while running through the fog.

Luckily, there will be lots of devilishly delicious food at Halloween Horror Nights 2025.

You can also quench your thirst with creative cocktails, craft beer, and ice-cold soft drinks.

Year-round Fright is on the Rise at Epic Universe

A dark street silhouetted against a sky at twilight with old buildings, glowing lanterns, and a wet cobblestone path.

Halloween doesn’t last forever — or does it? The long-awaited opening of Universal’s newest park, Epic Universe, has finally arrived. And it’s bringing something horror lovers can enjoy all year long.

Dark Universe transports you to an eerie village known as Darkmoor. It’s home of all the Universal legendary monsters that come out to wreak havoc annually during spooky season.

Joining their side is the next generation of creepy characters, such as Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-granddaughter of Henry Frankenstein.

Dark Universe features a variety of new attractions, such as the incredible ride, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.

You can also meet a variety of classic monsters, get a ghoulish makeover at the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience, check out a twisted family-friendly coaster called Curse of the Werewolf, and so much more.

Keep Your Cool at Orlando’s 10 Best Ice Cream Parlors

July is the perfect time to enjoy ice cream in Orlando.

Not only does the hot Florida weather lend itself to cool treats, but July is also National Ice Cream Month.

Plus, National Ice Cream Day falls on the third Sund-ae each year. In 2025, that’s Sunday, July 20.

Four hands holding ice cream cones with different colors of scooped ice cream against a bright yellow backdrop.

Whether you prefer soft-serve, gelato, or traditional hand-scooped, there’s a sweet spot for you in Orlando.

And with many businesses catering to guests with dietary restrictions, everyone can scream for ice cream this summer.

Here’s the scoop on Orlando’s top 10 ice cream parlors and creameries.

1. Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream

A scoop of ice cream in a Kelly's Homemade Ice Cream pink and white striped cup with a jar of sprinkles in the background.

Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream started with one location in Orlando’s trendy Audubon Park neighborhood.

Today, their bold and delicious flavors can be found throughout Central Florida in neighborhoods like Winter Park, SODO, and Horizon West.

You can also find them scooping up happiness at a variety of counters in partnership with Foxtail Coffee locations around town.

The creamery offers a rotating lineup of flavors, including carrot cake, rose almond pistachio, cake batter, blondie brownie, and toasted coconut.

Enjoy your ice cream in a sugar or waffle cone, waffle bowl, cup, as a sundae, or blended into a shake.

Not sure what to order? Create a flight of six flavors for a dynamic ice cream experience.

Thanks to Kelly’s pup popsicles, even the family dog can celebrate National Ice Cream Month.

2. Greenery Creamery

A visit to Greenery Creamery is the cherry on top of a day trip to downtown Orlando or Sanford.

Since opening in 2018, this Orlando ice cream shop has taken pride in serving artisan treats made with local and organic ingredients.

There’s something for everyone at Greenery Creamery — the shop offers a range of dairy and plant-based flavors, some of which are gluten free.

Go traditional with vanilla bean or Belgian chocolate made with local Florida cream, or try something new like black ash coconut or blueberry lavender.

Try a fabulous float with soda, nitro cold brew, or kombucha poured on top of vegan soft-serve.

And like at Kelly’s, the family dog can join the frosty fun with a pup cup, served in a bowl with a dog biscuit on the side.

3. Sampaguita Ice Cream

A hand with a white scrunchie holds a cone with purple soft-serve ice cream against scalloped pink chairs and a tropical greenery wallpaper.

Fans of the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil may recognize Sampaguita from “The Real” Orlando episode in season seven.

This sweet treat haven is a love letter to Filipino culture – and to ice cream.

Their exciting menu features a variety of dairy and vegan flavors, including Keso Guava Cheesecake, Banoffee Pie, and their signature Sampaguita with a hint of jasmine and lychee.

If you can’t choose just one or two flavors, choose the flight and pick six full-size scoops of hard or soft ice cream with up to six toppings, including house made ube sprinkles and hot fudge.

Feeling hungry for more?

Treat yourself to the Halo Halo, a traditional shaved ice Filipino dessert made with layers of coconut pandan jellies, palm nut fruit, corn flakes, shaved ice, jackfruit, and more.

4. Twistee Treat

Two hands, one holding an ice cream cone of cookie-dusted soft-serve and the other holding soft-serve in a Twistee Treat cup in front of a large Twistee Treat building.

Florida-based chain Twistee Treat is a soft-serve lover’s paradise.

Even the company’s buildings are shaped like deliciously topped cones!

Twistee Treat opened its first stand in 1983. Today, they have locations all over Central Florida, including Celebration, Clermont, and Orlando’s SODO neighborhood.

Each location has a variety of classic soft serve flavors like vanilla, German chocolate, mint, and butter pecan.

Enjoy your favorite flavor on its own or in a shake, sundae, or float. Or make your visit even sweeter with a playful waffle cone taco or ice cream sandwich.

The signature Twistee Treat Twirl is a blend of your choice of soft-serve flavors mixed with toppings and candy like OREO cookies, brownies, peanut butter cups, and gummy bears.

5. Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

For more soft-serve delights, visit Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard.

The beloved Philadelphia brand broke into the Florida market in 2016. Now, it has locations in Lake Buena Vista, Waterford Lakes, and Kissimmee.

As the name implies, Rita’s specialty is Italian ice, also known as “water ice,” in varieties like cherry, root beer, Swedish Fish, cotton candy, and blue raspberry.

Most Italian ice flavors are dairy free.

The chain also sells smooth soft-serve and hand-scooped custard in rotating flavors like vanilla, pistachio, cotton candy, and chocolate cake.

For the full Rita’s experience, order a Gelati, which layers your choice of Italian ice and custard flavors into one cup, or a Gelati Blender, which blends the two together.

6. Abracadabra Ice Cream Factory

A white shaved ice cream drizzled with red sauce and topped with ribbons of whipped cream.

Ice cream is already a magical food. But Kissimmee’s Abracadabra Ice Cream Factory takes sweet sorcery to the next level.

Upon arriving at this ice cream shop near Orlando, you’ll pick a milk base, flavor, and toppings.

Then, watch as Abracadabra’s wizards mix your selections together and flash-freeze your treat in front of you. Low-fat, sugar-free, and lactose-free options are available.

Abracadabra also sells family-friendly entrées like pizza, sandwiches, and wings.

After you’re done eating, take the kids to the on-site bounce house, free for guests 12 and under with your purchase.

7. Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor

The magic continues at Florean Fortescue’s, a Harry Potter-themed creamery in Universal Studios Florida.

In the book series, Harry and friends make a stop at Florean Fortescue’s whenever they go back-to-school shopping in Diagon Alley.

The Universal replica is best known for its fan-favorite butterbeer ice cream, served in a waffle cone or souvenir glass.

Potterheads also have their pick of other soft-serve and hand-scooped flavors.

Many, like clotted cream, Earl Grey, and sticky toffee pudding, are inspired by Harry Potter’s native England.

Strawberry, caramel, and hot fudge sundaes are also available.

Please note you’ll need a Universal Studios Florida park ticket to enjoy Florean Fortescue’s ice cream.

8. Salt & Straw

Three ice cream cones and a red and white cup topped with scoops of various ice cream flavors.

You’ll also find your favorite sweet treat at Walt Disney World Resort.

Oregon-based creamery Salt & Straw opened its first Orlando outpost in 2022.

Conveniently located in Disney Springs, Salt & Straw offers time-tested flavors like double-fold vanilla and chocolate brownie.

You’ll also find experimental options like sourdough and olive oil chocolate, salted grapefruit coconut julep, and pear and blue cheese.

Salt & Straw is also known for collaborating with local businesses to create bold new flavors featuring fresh ingredients.

For instance, its Florida locations serve Panther Coffee chocolate tres leches, an espresso ice cream mixed with coconut-infused añejo rum tres leches cake.

You’ll also find guava and cheese ice cream made in collaboration with Audubon Park’s Salty Donut.

9. The Soda Fountain

A mason jar milkshake topped with a brownie and a full ice cream cone in front of shelves with jars of toppings.

With its classic egg creams, floats, and sundaes, the Soda FountainThe Soda Fountain is the perfect place to relive your childhood.

Then again, it’s also the perfect place to shake things up with a boozy concoction.

The Soda Fountain has two Orlando locations, one in the Conway neighborhood and the other in College Park.

Ice cream connoisseurs of all ages flock there for fun flavors like coconut, toffee, and cherry.

The 21+ crowd can partake in options like a Guinness float or the key lime pie, made with white rum, vanilla ice cream, margarita mix, and pie crumbles.

When you’re on vacation, there’s nothing wrong with eating dessert first. Still, if you’d rather start with a meal, each Soda Fountain location is connected to a hot dog shop.

10. Creek Ice Creamery

On a hot Florida day, ice cream and a refreshing swim are a winning combination. At Rosen Shingle Creek, we know that well.

Our Orlando hotel is home to Creek Ice Creamery, a top-tier ice cream parlor mere footsteps away from our swimming pools.

Our tempting options include cappuccino chip, dulce de leche, and cookie. We also serve gelato varieties like vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and strawberry cheesecake.

Whichever flavor you choose, it will go perfectly in a milkshake, atop a fluffy Belgian waffle, or pressed into an indulgent donut sandwich.

What Your Cocktail Order from Cat-Tails Pool Bar & Grille Says About You

By Kate Cohen

Every stay at Rosen Shingle Creek should include lounging by one of our four sparkling pools with a refreshing drink in hand.

You can tell a lot about a person by the drink they’re sipping poolside on a beautiful Orlando day.

Regardless of what you’re drinking, we’re happy you’re choosing to spend your stay with us at Rosen Shingle Creek.

In case you were wondering, here’s what your cocktail order from Cat-Tails Pool Bar & Grille says about you.

The Poolside Margarita

Casamigos Blanco Tequila, Blue Lagoon Orange Liqueur, Tres Agave organic agave nectar, lime juice, orange juice

A bright blue cocktail with a salt rim and an orange garnish in a plastic cup labeled "Rosen Shingle Creek"

If you’re sipping this blue beauty poolside, you probably enjoy turning a few heads from guests strolling past.

Everyone seems to be lowering their sunglasses and wondering what mystery drink you’re sipping.

They’re also probably a little jealous of your prime lounge chair location – and that’s the way you like it.

You’re not one of those pool-goers that doesn’t dare get your bathing suit wet.

Instead, you’re in the water, leaning on the pool deck with your drink in your hand, your face shadowed by the brim of a large straw hat.

You’re on vacation and you want a drink that visually reminds you of your leisurely freedom. Enjoy every moment.

Mango Melon Margarita

Patron Silver Tequila, Mango Purée, Watermelon Purée

A frozen orange cocktail with a lime and orange garnish and a straw in a plastic cup labeled Rosen Shingle Creek with a sugar rim.

If you’re drinking this frozen fruity favorite, you’re a fan of a playful twist on a classic Mexican cocktail.

In fact, you probably have dinner reservations at Mi Casa later.

You like your margs icy and smooth with the perfect balance of tequila, but vacation calls for a tropical take on your usual go-to.

So, you’ve decided to wholeheartedly embrace summer vibes with the addition of two delicious and summery fruits: watermelon and mango.

You can be found with your feet up under an umbrella, maybe flipping through the pages of the summer’s hottest beach read.

Or, if you’re feeling social, perhaps you’ve found a seat at the bar and are making small talk with the friendly bartenders and other resort guests enjoying their time by the pool.

Be sure to save room for another round of hand-crafted margaritas with your Mi Casa dinner reservation!

Aperol Spritz

Prosecco, Aperol, club soda

A clear orange cocktail with a straw and orange garnish in a plastic cup labeled Rosen Shingle Creek.

This sleek and trendy drink is as classy and classic as your sense of style.

If you’re drinking an Aperol Spritz poolside, you’re leaning into the Mediterranean vibes exuding from the architectural influence around you at Rosen Shingle Creek.

This slow sipper is smooth and laid back, just like the person drinking it. Nothing is going to stop you from savoring this citrusy, bittersweet beverage.

You’re probably sporting Italian designer sunglasses and something with bold stripes; a bathing suit maybe, or a tote bag carrying your towel and sunscreen.

Maybe you take a break from lounging poolside and wander to Emma’s Creekside Farm, our onsite garden growing a variety of produce and Italian herbs.

Aperol Spritz fans also appreciate the art of aperitivo and can be found snacking on something delicious from the Cat-Tails food menu.

Lava Flow

Bacardi Superior Rum, Pina Colada, Strawberry Purée, Rum Floater

A frozen white and red marbled cocktail with a straw and a large pineapple garnish in a plastic cup labeled Rosen Shingle Creek.

If you’re laid out poolside with a Lava Flow in hand, you’re on vacation and you don’t care who knows it.

In fact, your vacay started the second the sparkling blue pool was in sight.

You’re the life of the party at the pool, the kind of person who brings your own beach ball and makes new friends inviting other people to join a game.

You like your drinks sweet and strong, just how you like your Southern hospitality.

The perfect blend of tart fruit and sweet coconut, this frozen cocktail is the go-to drink for playing by the pool and soaking up the Orlando sun (with your sunscreen, of course).

Blood Orange Mule

Grey Goose vodka, blood orange ginger beer

A orange-pink cocktail with a lime garnish in a plastic cup that reads Rosen Shingle Creek.

If you’re sipping a mule by the pool, you’re the kind of person who likes things spicy

This no-frills drink is simple and straightforward with a signature gingery bite and a Floridian citrus twist.

You also like your vodka how you like your resort stay: high end.

This isn’t your first vacation, or at least not your first day at the resort.

Maybe you’re in town for a conference, or you’re unwinding after a long day on the golf course.

A Blood Orange Mule is the perfect drink to have in hand as you network and socialize — or find a secluded spot where you can enjoy your cocktail in peace and quiet.

Cabana Punch

Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Bacardi Pineapple Rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice

A pink-red cocktail with a straw and a pineapple garnish in a plastic cup that reads Rosen Shingle Creek.

If you’re enjoying a refreshing Cabana Punch, you’re someone who enjoys the finer things in life.

In fact, lounging poolside just isn’t enough for you. You need to reserve a private cabana.

That’s why you’ll be enjoying your drink in one of Rosen Shingle Creek’s private cabanas, complete with a comfortable couch, TV, outlets, and privacy curtains.

Instead of tiring your wrist fanning yourself, you’ve chosen to lie beneath a ceiling fan for a cool breeze.

Your cabana lifestyle is as close to the beach as you can get while lounging by a pool.

When it comes to vacation, you take a truly tropical approach to your getaway.

And, with antioxidant-rich mixers like pineapple and cranberry juice, you’re still mindful of taking a health-conscious approach to your indulgences.

What Will Your Next Drink at Cat-Tails Be?

A red ombre cocktail and a green and yellow cocktail on a wicker table by a sparkling blue pool in Rosen shingle Creek cups.

You can find each of these signature cocktails at Cat-Tails Pool Bar & Grille at Rosen Shingle Creek, along with a variety of other fun, refreshing drinks and tasty food.

Regardless of what your drink says about you, we hope you find relaxation and bliss in whichever cocktail you’re enjoying.

Not sure what to order? Our talented bartenders will help you find the perfect drink to suit your style.

We’ll see you poolside soon!

5 Skincare Tips for a Hot Florida Summer

By Kate Cohen
April 4, 2025

Whether you’re on vacation or you live in Central Florida, it’s hard to resist the allure of a day lounging by the pool or spread out at the beach.

But in the summer, Florida’s sun can be dangerously intense.

Luckily, there are several skincare tricks you can do to protect your skin and enjoy your pool day, too.

Here are 5 skincare tips for a hot Florida Summer.

Always Use Sunscreen

A woman in a green bathing suit sits beside a pool pouring sunscreen into her hand. Sunscreen is one of the best skincare tips.

Sunscreen is the ultimate skincare defense when protecting your skin from damaging rays.

An SPF 30 sunscreen blocks over 97% of the sun’s UV rays, shielding your skin and keeping it from burning.

Sunscreen should be worn even on cloudy days, especially in Florida.

While an overcast sky may seem to offer a sense of security, harmful UV rays can still penetrate clouds and reach exposed skin.

Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours, or more frequently if you’re swimming or sweating.

Both spray and lotion sunscreens are safe and effective for protection.

If you use spray sunscreen, be sure to apply it directly to your skin and rub it in for maximum coverage.

Wear Protective Clothing and Gear

A man and his son, both wearing long sleeve rash guards, sit on the beach in front of clear blue water.

Keeping your skin covered is another effective way to avoid sunburn and permanent damage.

Wearing long sleeves and bottoms with good coverage can keep your skin hidden from harmful rays.

But not all fabrics are made equal.

Look for clothing made with tightly woven textiles that the sun can’t easily penetrate.

UPF clothing is designed to deflect UV rays, perfect for a day at the pool or the beach.

Hats help protect your scalp from the sun overhead, and sunglasses not only protect your eyes, but also the delicate skin around them.

Stay Hydrated

A woman in a gray sports bra standing by a window drinks water from a water bottle.

When the temperatures rise, staying hydrated is more important than ever.

Drinking plenty of water boasts a variety of health benefits, including keeping your skin healthy.

Well-hydrated skin maintains elasticity and firmness, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It also supports the skin’s barrier function, making skin less susceptible to sensitivity, dryness, and irritation.

A smooth, vibrant complexion starts with proper skincare, including staying well hydrated.

Seek out Shade

Two khaki color cabanas with blue lounge chairs, televisions, and a nearby table set with a bottle of Champagne and fruit tray.

When possible, spend your time outside in the shade rather than in direct sun.

This may mean staying sheltered under covered outdoor spaces or spending your pool time lounging beneath an umbrella.

Basically, the best way to protect yourself from the sun is to stay out of it!

Try spending the day by the Rosen Shingle Creek cabana pool in a private shaded cabana.

Our cabanas include a cable TV, mini fridge, fans, security safe, and complimentary bottled water and coconut water to keep you feeling hydrated and refreshed.

Grab a beverage and a bite to eat from Cat-Tails Pool Bar & Grille and kick back to enjoy your day in the shade.

Moisturize after Sun Exposure

A close up of a woman with brown hair rubbing cream into the back of her hand.

Even with sunscreen, skin easily dries out after time in the sun.

Take care of your skin by using a moisturizer following your outdoor activities.

A great soothing after-sun lotion is properly designed to soften and rejuvenate skin.

It also helps to alleviate dryness and discomfort that may come from spending the day in the sun.

Looking for a more indulgent way to rehydrate your skin?

The Spa at Rosen Shingle Creek offers luxurious body treatments designed to detoxify, moisturize, exfoliate, and nurture all types of skin.

A day at the spa doesn’t negate the importance of sunscreen, but it can make recovery a true “treat yourself” moment.

Care for Yourself beyond Skincare at Rosen Shingle Creek

A large sparkling blue pool surrounded by lounge chairs and palm trees, with a golf course in the distance.

Rosen Shingle Creek is a true playground for guests of all ages.

From our four sparkling seasonally heated pools to our volleyball courts and our esteemed golf course, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities onsite.

It’s also why we know better than anyone the importance of protecting your skin from the Florida sun.

Make sure you follow these tips for a satisfying and safe Florida summer day.

Orlando Fringe Festival: 5 Must-Try Experiences

Orlando’s fine arts scene is one of the best in the country.

Every year, our venues host some of the world’s biggest superstar musicians and performers, touring productions of renowned Broadway shows, and epic headliners from around the world.

While it’s always exciting to see your favorite recognizable artists, the heart of Orlando’s art scene is in its local events, like the Orlando Fringe Festival.

The Orlando Fringe logo in purple and orange.

This world-renowned celebration of the arts showcases independent artists from all over the globe.

This year’s festival, held May 13 – 26, 2025, is sure to be the biggest and best Orlando Fringe Festival yet.

What is a Fringe Festival?

The term “Fringe Festival” originated in Scotland in 1948.

Several artists, upset at being excluded from the Edinburgh Theatre Festival, decided to perform their shows at inexpensive or free venues around the “fringes” of the city.

These unconventional works soon began to draw attention, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival became a showcase of independent artists from around the world.

To this date, Edinburgh Fringe is the largest running Fringe Festival in the world, with over 3,800 shows performing in their three-week 2024 season. Over 2 million tickets were sold.

Since 1948, dozens of Fringe shows have popped up around the world.

In the United States, the Orlando Fringe Festival is the largest and longest running.

Every year, Orlando hosts hundreds of artists and hundreds of thousands of audience members for an unjuried, uncensored celebration of artistry.

Shows are selected through a lottery process, meaning you’re just as likely to see a show from a first-time performer as a returning veteran of the stage.

This two-week festival is the perfect opportunity to experience some of the world’s most innovative, imaginative, and sometimes downright bizarre performances.

And there are so many reasons people have been returning to the festival year after year for over 30 years.

Here are our suggestions for 5 can’t miss experiences at the 2025 Orlando Fringe Festival.

See a Show…or Seven

A performer in plaid pants and a striped shirt stands on a stage balancing a bicycle on his chin at Orlando Fringe.

To see a Fringe show, you’ll need to purchase a button for around $10.

This is the only money that returns to the Fringe Festival; 100% of ticket proceeds go directly to the artists themselves.

Your button is a one-time purchase that then grants you access to buy tickets for any performance you choose.

Once you have your button, you can purchase show tickets online or through the Orlando Fringe app.

With the majority of the festival’s shows held in venues at Orlando Shakes, Orlando Family Stage, and Orlando Museum of Art, all of which are in Loch Haven Park, you can hop from one show to another with ease.

Typically, after the festival’s first few days, there will be buzz around the best performances of the year and the festival’s breakout hits.

But once word begins to spread, you’ll want to get your tickets quickly. Many venues are intimate and sell out fast.

Some shows at Orlando Fringe are intended for the entire family to enjoy. Others are for mature audiences only.

In any given season, you can find musicals, one-person shows, puppet performances, parodies, drag shows, avant-garde pieces, stand-up comedy, and more.

Every show is original and can be seen for around $10 per ticket.

Enjoy Dinner and Drinks on The Lawn and Take in a Concert on the Outdoor Stage

A group of people smiling, sitting at an outdoor table in front of a large event tent with a sign that reads Beer Tent.

There is a large central lawn in Loch Haven Park between Orlando Shakes, The Orlando Science Center, Orlando Museum of Art, and Orlando Family Stage.

For Orlando Fringe every year, the lawn transforms into a gathering place for artists, audience members, and the greater Orlando community.

There are dozens of food trucks (including the recurring favorite peddling Wisconsin cheese curds), an Orlando Fringe bar tent, outdoor art displays, and seating.

There is also a stage set up in a covered tent where you can catch live musicians performing most nights.

It’s the perfect space to grab a bite to eat between shows, order your favorite cocktail, and enjoy some live music as the sun goes down.

Take your Little Ones to Experience Kids Fringe

A green dinosaur mascot leads a group of children along a sidewalk in a park.

Held on the weekends during Orlando Fringe, Kids Fringe is a fully family-friendly celebration with art, live performances, storytelling, and play.

It’s the perfect opportunity to let your kids express themselves, use their imaginations, and socialize with other kids in the community.

Head to the Orlando Garden Center in Loch Haven Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays of the festival to take advantage of amazing free entertainment everyone will love.

Browse the Art Galleries at Visual Fringe

Two women and a man stand laughing in a room serving as an art gallery with paintings on the walls.

Visual Fringe is the art portion of festival displaying a variety of artwork from artists around the world.

Similarly to Orlando Fringe’s performance pieces, artwork is selected through a lottery, meaning anyone can participate.

You’ll see paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, photographs, drawings, and a variety of other mediums on display.

Every piece is for sale, and 100% of the proceeds go directly back to the artist.

Take the time to browse the Orlando Fringe galleries, art markets, and selfie backdrops, or attend an art class or workshop to express your own creative side.

Support Young Artists at Fringers of the Future

Orlando Fringe is also a huge supporter of young artists.

Their Fringers of the Future program is a lottery open to middle school and high school artists and programs who are interested in bringing a performance to the festival.

All application and performance fees are waived, and 100% of ticket proceeds return to the school or program.

Additionally, Orlando Fringe hosts workshops and coordinates mentorships for young participants with industry professionals from around the world.

This incredible opportunity allows young artists to express themselves and share their creativity while also bringing audience members amazing shows from young performers.

Stay at Rosen Shingle Creek for your Orlando Fringe Festivities

Rosen Shingle Creek is the perfect home base for your itinerary of Fringe activities.

When you’re not taking in shows, enjoying a drink and cheese curds on The Lawn, or partaking in some of the world’s best people-watching, you can relax by one of our four pools or treat yourself to a round of golf.

Our elegant, comfortable accommodations are ideal for restful nights so you can refresh your energy for Fringe fun and festivities.
