Chris Vitanza, Executive Pastry Chef
Acclaimed pastry chef Chris Vitanza has impressed presidents and discerning foodies alike with fresh and innovative desserts that are works of art, as dazzling to view as to eat.
The Philadelphia native began his career early on in the kitchen of a country club where his father was general manager, instilled with a work ethic that moved him to use his all of his talents to create sweet combinations that would please all senses.
In addition to winning culinary competitions around the country, he also had the opportunity to provide desserts for the Presidential Summit in 1997, attended by then-President Bill Clinton, former Presidents George Bush and Jimmy Carter, among other dignitaries.
Over his career, he has been executive pastry chef at various restaurants in his hometown, and his wholesale and retail bakery in Philadelphia provided gourmet desserts to prestigious country clubs and high-end hotels.
His own gourmet dessert café in Old City Philadelphia, “The Painted Parrot Café,” became the “go to” place for the best desserts and patrons voted it the area’s best numerous times in several newspapers and magazines, including “Gourmet Magazine.”
His heavenly creations are viewed as works of art: desserts served on plates hand painted with sauces that are the perfect complement to the confections.
Throughout his career, Chef Chris has lived by a motto that has spurred him on to create memorable pieces for his customers, an outlook on life that he brings to his culinary family: “Life is short. Eat dessert first!”
