The Greater Orlando Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (GOAMPI) bestowed the Chapter’s inaugural Professional Achievement Award upon local hotelier Harris Rosen during GOAMPI’s Annual Awards & Board Installation Gala held on June 17th at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport.
The Professional Achievement Awards recognizes community leaders in the meetings industry who have contributed to the industry’s growth and overall impact on the region’s economy. Rosen is the founder and president of Rosen Hotels & Resorts. Among Rosen’s many industry and civic accomplishments include: the Tangelo Park Pilot Program, which has awarded more than 220 full college scholarships to youngsters who live in the disenfranchised area; and his recent donation of $18 million to the University of Central Florida to construct and govern the Rosen School of Hospitality Management. For his unselfish contributions to improving the quality of life for parents and children in Orlando, Rosen was awarded the distinguished AMVETS Silver Hamlet Award and was named “1999 Orlando an of the Year” by Orlando Magazine.
“We wanted to recognize Harris Rosen for his strong impact on the local hospitality community and his tremendous support for promoting the educational aspects of the meeting industry,” says Rodney Gutierrez, CMP, president of the Greater Orlando Area Chapter of MPI. “His contributions to the University of Central Florida’s Hospitality Management School will have a tremendous impact not only on the local hospitality community but to the industry at large!”
The GOAMPI Professional achievement Award has been established to recognize industry professionals from the local community who have demonstrated leadership through community development, support for the meeting industry, and vision for the industry’s sustained growth. The award will be presented on an annual basis.
